Seykhar Films

Seykhar Films, founded in 2005 by Tashi Wangchuk and Tsultrim Dorjee, specializes in Tibet-related films, including feature films, documentaries, and shorts.

Our first feature film, ‘Phun Anu Thanu,’ tells the story of two exile brothers, followed by ‘Richard Gere is My Hero,’ which explores the lives of four friends in Dharamsala. Our documentary, ‘Democracy in Exile,’ was commissioned by PSBT and aired on Doordarshan, showcasing the Tibetan narrative. In 2014, ‘Scent of Juniper’ won the Rising Star award at the Canada International Film Festival, further establishing our presence in the film industry.

Tsultrim Dorjee, co-director and cinematographer, has a rich background in the Tibetan Government in Exile and pursued his filmmaking dream after studying Digital Film Production. His passion for technology began in childhood, leading to his successful projects. Tashi Wangchuk, co-director and producer, has a Master’s in Economics and has worked in arts and theatre, gaining inspiration for his filmmaking journey. He won a Fulbright Scholarship for an MFA in Filmmaking and currently works with Voice of America, contributing to Tibetan media.
